Morning Call - August 10, 2020
Showers
Thunderstorms

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 10th August 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Conditions turn unsettled for many into the new week with showers and thunderstorms spreading across the country from the southwest. Many areas, especially to the north and east, may stay dry with some good spells of sunshine. Hot again in the south.

Good Morning,

A very warm and muggy start to the day across southern parts of the country in particular. It's a mostly dry start however it will be rather cloudy with showery outbreaks affecting southwestern parts of the UK as well as southeastern parts of Ireland.

Showers, these locally heavy, turn thundery into the afternoon and become more widespread around Irish Sea coasts of the UK and Ireland. They may also spread east over England into the Midlands where they may continue to be locally very heavy and they spread north into Northern Ireland and southern and western parts of Scotland.

Through Monday evening, showers tend to become more focussed over north Wales, Northern Ireland, the West Midlands and the northwest of England but that doesn't preclude isolated thundery showers spreading to other areas.

Have a good day!

Claire
