Sunny spells and mainly dry although cloud and rain in the southwest later

Rain this morning afecting southern Scotland and the far north of England. Brighter with sunny spells across much of the rest of England and Wales. Showers develop through this morning, some of them heavy, especially in Wales, the Midlands and northern England. tending to be drier to the south. Drier central and northern Scotland, lots of cloud here. Windy in southern Ireland, with rain in the west.

Further showers this afternoon and staying windy across Ireland. More showers for Wales as well as central and southern England. Some sunny spells between the showers. Rain and cloud for southern Scotland, drier in northern Scotland.

Tonight brings rain across western and southern Scotland later in the night. Some rain at first in parts of northern England. This should fade and then the day should be dry and bright with sunny spells.
