Cloud and rain in the north and west, drier southern England and northern Scotland then cold tonight
Rain this morning through Ireland, northwest England and much of Scotland. It;s a drier start for central and southern England although lots of cloud. Breezy too with the southwest wind to gale force over western coasts and hills. Brighter in northwest Scotland, some sunshine here already coming through.
The rain slips east and south through this morning and into this afternoon, reaching most of Wales and the Midlands by mid afternoon. There could be an odd heavier bursts and also a crack of thunder here and there. Staying drier in the far south. Much brighter, fresh weather arriving across Scotland and Ireland where it becomes dry, apart from a few showers in northwest Scotland.
Tonight sees some cloud and patchy rain in the far south of England, a few showers northwest Scotland. For most though the night is dry and cool with clear spells and temperatures as low as 4C in central Scotland.
