Drier east & northeast
A trough of low pressure exists across the British Isles today, with a slow-moving frontal zone affecting central and western areas, giving some persistent at times heavy rain. Heaviest bursts focused on the southwest.
East and northeast England generally drier - some places seeing very little if any rain all day. Cloudy for most, and murky where rain does occur. A little hazy sun in the morning toward the east.
Rain clears to sunshine and showers for western Britain later. Bright and fresh with a few heavy showers for Ireland. Winds varied in direction, southerly in the east, northwesterly in the west, and brisk around many coasts.
Today's top temperatures 14 to 16C, but in rain, nearer 10 to 12C.
Have a great day.
