Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 13th August 2024 Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling
Showery rain in the west, drier in the east and muggy here
Humid and mostly dry with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells this morning over much of central and eastern England. Thicker cloud in the west with showery bursts of rain, most in western Scotland, west Wales and the far southwest of England. Brighter and fresher in Ireland, some showers in the west.
The afternoon sees cloud increasing for many of us from the west, patchy rain in western Scotland, northern England, Wales and southwest England. Tending to be drier in central and eastern areas although muggy under the cloud. Best sunny spells in east Anglia and southeast England. Much fresher for Ireland with sunny spells.
Overnight the showery rain edges through northeast England, the Midlands and central southern England, the risk of a crack of thunder too. Fresher and drier in the west and north, still muggy in central and eastern areas.
