Dry for most

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 21st June 2022
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Plenty of cloud, some morning rain in northern England, then evening showers along southern coasts

A band of rain across northern England this morning will be fading as it heads south. More persistent rain in southern Ireland is also going to become lighter and more patchy. mainly cloudy across Scotland and Northern Ireland. There could be a few spots of drizzle around western, northern and eastern coasts of Scotland too. Some bright spells and sunshine for parts of central, eastern and southern England and Wales, although cloud tending to increase in the south.

This afternoon sees many areas dry but with broken cloud. Some bright os sunny spells, the best in Wales, the Midlands and parts of eastern England. A shower may occur over the Grampians, and there could be one or two spots of drizzle over southern Irish coasts. Some showers drifting into the Channel islands, and these showers edging north to affect southern coasts of England by evening.

Tonight sees a few showers at first along southern coasts of England. Dry for most other areas with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. A few showers could affect eastern Scotland.
