Issued: 0530hrs Friday 4th September 2020
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Showers or rain in the north and west. Windy too. Drier further south but rain spreading in from the west later.

In the morning, there will be showers and/or longer spells of rain for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern and western Ireland with some showers developing across northern England. Windy here too. Drier further south although cloudy.

In the afternoon, the showers or longer spells of rain will continue to affect the north and west with showers becoming widespread across Ireland. Staying windy. Staying largely dry further south but still cloudy while light rain is expected to affect south Wales and southwest England.

The light rain in the south will spread eastwards through the evening and affect central and southeastern areas of England through the first part of the night, before becoming confined to the far southeast then clearing through the early hours. Meanwhile elsewhere, expect clear spells and plenty of dry conditions but showers will continue to affect the far north and western areas. Staying windy here.
