A few showers spreading to central-southern areas

Good morning,

Southern Britain will remain mild during today, but cooler air is arriving from the north as a cold front advances southwards.

Sunny spells across the south this morning will soon give way to thickening cloud from the north, and a few areas of showers will spread from the north-west into central areas through the middle of the day. A band of showers may run across southern England into the early evening.

Showers will be more frequent in the north-west of Britain & Ireland, merging into longer periods of rain, turning increasingly to snow over the Scottish Highlands. Possible hail and thunder in north-west Scotland.

A westerly breeze will be fresh for all regions, strongest in the north, where it will feel much colder than recent days.

Today's top temperatures will be 13 or 14C in the south, 10 to 12C for the Midlands, Wales & northern England, but only 7 to 9C in Scotland & Northern Ireland.

Have a great day.
