A broad area of low pressure will rotate slowly across England and Wales today, drifting slowly toward the southwest through the day.
Widespread bursts of rain, some heavy and thundery downpours, setting in for several hours in places. The heaviest rain focused on Wales and the southwest through afternoon into evening.
Rain may be patchier across central and eastern counties of England, whilst northern Scotland may locally escape more often dry.
Today's top temperatures 15 to 17C, but only 10 to 12C in the north and east of Scotland, plus northeast England, with a breeze off the North Sea.
