Severe gales and more flooding, drier in the west later
Good morning,
And what a windy one it is! Severe gales are affecting much of Scotland, Wales, western England and Ireland right now. The wind should be easing over Ireland during the first part of this morning, but will continue to be strong over the UK, although slowly easing from the west this afternoon and evening.
As the wind eases, so the rain gets heavier and more persistent. Scotland, western England and Wales all seeing several hours of rain, some of it heavy, and this can only add to the existing flooding problems. The rain edges east through the afternoon as drier weather arrives in Ireland.
Then rain for much of England, Wales and northern England this afternoon and evening, although tending to become drier in Scotland and Ireland.
