Windy and colder, some rain passing south through England, Wales and Ireland, turning brighter from the north

A showery band of rain slipping south through northern England, north Wales and Ireland this morning. Cloud, windy and mostly dry in the rest of England and Wales. Much brighter for the far north of England and Northern Ireland as well as most of Scotland, mostly dry and cold, some showers in the north.

Windy this afternoon as the band of rain sinks south, affecting central and southern England and Wales well into the afternoon and evening. Better and brighter weather follows from the north, sunny spells too. Scattered showers in western Scotland and northwest England. Dry for other areas.

Tonight is chilly with clearer skies. Some showers in northern and western Scotland, northwest England and north Wales. Further heavy showers in thew north and west of Ireland. Drier in other areas with clear spells. Staying breezy.
