Fair start, then rain west and north as well as windy, showery tonight

A fair start to the morning for many with sunny spells. Increasing cloud in Ireland as a front arrives bringing rain into the far west during breakfasttime, then spreading northeastwards through this morning. A few spots of rain developing in eastern Scotland. Turning cloudier by lunchtime in northern England, Scotland and Wales.

This afternoon sees cloud thickening further, periods of rain in Ireland and Scotland and well as northwest England through this afternoon and into the evening. The rain turning heavy in parts of Ireland and western Scotland. Winds increasing in Ireland and western Wales, a risk of gales developing in Ireland too. Staying dry for most of the rest of England and Wales, sunshine in the south.

Tonight becomes breezier with gales in northwest England, western Wales and Northern Ireland as well as southern Scotland. Rain, heavy at times will be clear away from most of Scotland, showers then following from the northwest. Drier south and east.
