Issued: 0530hrs Friday 23rd September 2016
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cloudy for many with spots of rain this morning, turning brighter in the west

Good morning,

A chilly start to Friday morning. There will be some good spells of sunshine for much of the country, although a few showers affecting southern parts of Wales. Increasing cloud and winds affecting the far west of Ireland and western Scotland.

Mostly fair into this afternoon with further spells of sunshine for most. Feeling warm too. The showers fade from Wales with sunny spells here. Winds in Ireland and western Scotland will be increasing to gale force with more rain in the west.

Tonight is windy in western parts of the UK and Ireland with gales becoming widespread. Heavy periods of rain affecting Ireland and western Scotland but dry elsewhere.
