Heavy rain tonight

Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Increasingly windy

Good morning,

High pressure extends across the south and east of Britain today, whilst fronts are moving in from the northwest today, bringing a change to colder conditions again into midweek.

Becoming increasingly wet for Ireland and western Scotland, with southwest winds increasing to gale force around western coasts and hills. Snow will fall widely over the mountains. Patchy drizzly rain moves onto western coastal hills of England and Wales as cloud thickens.

A cold front moves quickly southeast across all parts of the UK overnight, with heavy rain, gusty winds and hill snow. A cold, showery air mass follows, with snow, hail and ice forming into Tuesday morning.

Today's top temperatures will reach 3 to 5C, or locally 8C or above in the southwest.

Have a great day.
Garry
