Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Spells of rain and strong winds during this week

Good morning,

It's a fine start to the week for much of England, but there's rain developing to the west and the week ahead brings a generally unsettled mix of wind and rain for many places.

Rain over Ireland this morning will spread to Wales and western Scotland accompanied by strong southerly winds this afternoon. Rain extends further into western and central England this evening, then further southeastwards into tonight.

Tuesday sees a mix of rain and showers spread eastwards, feeling fresh in brisk westerly winds. Wednesday is fine and warmer for many places, then the tail-end of Tropical Storm Ernesto will bring heavy rain by Thursday.

Today's top temperatures rising to 25C in southeast England and East Anglia, 22C Midlands and northeast England, 17C toward the west and northwest of Britain.

Have a great day.
Garry
