Feeling chilly, but little wind south & east
It's a cold and frosty start for many places this morning, temperatures widely near or below freezing. However, there is a good deal of sunshine, and much of the country stays dry throughout the daytime.
Cloud will thicken from the west, as fronts move in off the Atlantic. Turning wet across Ireland, and rain will spread to western regions into this evening. Southerly winds will freshen later, toward gale force in exposed areas.
After a chilly morning, temperatures will lift gradually to 7 to 9C by the middle of the day, or locally 12C in the south-west.
Rain spreads to all areas tonight, turning heavy and persistent, leading to a wet Saturday across central & eastern areas, although the west will soon improve, and milder temperatures are on the way.
Have a great day.
