Cold and bright, a few showers in the north and west

A cold morning although a bright one for many. There will be sunny spells in the east and south. A few showers around northern and western coasts. Dry in other areas, the best of these in the east and south.

A few more showers may develop in central and southern areas through this afternoon but for most places with stays dry. Good spells of sunshine, especially in the north but still feeling chilly.

A cold night ahead under clearing skies. Winds falling light with temperatures sinking to single figures. There is a risk of a touch of ground frost in more sheltered areas.
