Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 12th February 2020
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cold with snow showers in northwest Scotland, fair for many, rain in southwest later

Good morning,

A better start to the day although it is cold again. There are heavy snow showers still affecting the hills of northwest Scotland, rain and sleet on the coasts. Eastern Scotland is drier. Apart from isolated showers over west Wales and parts of southwest England it should be dry this morning, as well as being sunny. Dry and col but sunny too in Ireland, although showers in the west.

Staying cold this afternoon, but sunny too. Some showers and increased cloud reaches southwest Wales, southwest England and southern Ireland later, rain soon arriving. The snow showers in northwest Scotland and parts of southern Scotland continues, although it will be dry and bright in central and eastern areas. Rain spreads east overnight, some of it heavy. Snow on hills in southern Scotland. Heavy showers in southwest.
