A cold day but with some sunshine, more cloud in the west
It's a chilly start to the day with a frost affecting many parts of southern western and northern England as well as Wales and Scotland. Eastern parts of England are breezier with a significant wind chill here and some showers on the coasts. Milder but damp in Ireland where there is plenty of mist and murk as well as drizzly.
This afternoon stays chilly but with good spells of sunshine in much of England and Wales together with southern Scotland. Cloud over eastern coasts of England with a few showers in Kent. Cloudier still in Ireland with some drizzle and cloud.
Another frost in central and southern England and Wales tonight. Broken cloud to the west and north with a few spots of drizzle in the west.
