Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cloudy and damp in northern and western areas, but drier and warmer in the south and east

Good morning,

Theres lots of cloud affecting the UK and Ireland this morning. Fronts are giving outbreaks of mainly light rain and drizzle to much of western Scotland and Ireland. This drizzle drifting into western Wales and northwest England as the morning progresses. Mostly dry in the east and south with some sunny spells and warm in that sunshine. The rain turns heavier in northern England, north and west Wales this afternoon, tending to come through in heavy bursts. Staying damp with some heavy showers in western Ireland and western Scotland with brisk winds here as well. Staying dry for much of the rest of England and eastern Wales with warm weather to the southeast.

Showery rain edges eastwards through England and Wales tonight as showers follow to the north and west. Drier in the southeast again.
