Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 4th January 2025 Duty forecaster: Dan Graves
An Atlantic low approaches the British Isles. Snow, rain, and increasing winds arrive overnight.
It's another cold and frosty morning, but a change is soon arriving. Low pressure southwest of the Isles is approaching, thickening cloud throughout the day and shifting winds towards the west and south. East Scotland may see occasional sun. Rain will arrive in the southwest in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise to 3C in the south, 1C in the north.
As the low pushes northeast overnight, snow will push across Ireland, Wales, the Midlands, and north England. Some snow may reach to southern Scotland. Snow soon changes to rain in the south with a passing warm front. The north will stay cold, near 0C. Winds will pick up too with a risk of gales near the Irish Sea.
Enjoy your day! -Dan
