Sunny spells north

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 20th April 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

A cloudier day, cool, sunshine developing in northern Scotland

A weak front moving through Scotland today will be bringing cloud and some outbreaks of rain with it. This patchy rain extends into the north and west of Ireland. Cloudier skies than yesterday across northern England, Wales and much of western England. Stull sunny this morning in East Anglia and the southeast.

This afternoon brings broken cloud and a few bright or sunny spells in central and southern England. The thicker cloud still in northern England and Wales where it will be mostly dry, except a few spots of rain over the tops of the Pennines and Snowdonia. Becoming brighter in much of central and northern Scotland as well as northern parts of Ireland.

Overnight there may be a little patchy rain in East Anglia and the eastern Midlands, but overall skies will be clearing. A frost in sheltered parts of Wales and southern England as well as southern Scotland and Ireland.
