Broken cloud, showers in the northwest, drier for other areas with some brighter spells

Plenty of cloud this morning for many areas. A few showers in central and eastern parts of England. Some showers in western Scotland and Northern Ireland where it will be starting to feel fresher. Brighter in eastern Scotland and northeast England.

This afternoon brings more persistent showers or rain to western Scotland. Scattered showers in southeast England. Drier for other areas with some sunny spells. Still muggy in the east although starting to feel fresher from the west.

This evening and overnight is mostly dry with some clear spells. Showers in western Scotland and northwest England.
