Bright and breezy, best sunshine east and south but severe gales Northern Ireland and northern England this evening and tonight
It's a bright and breezy day ahead with sunny spells. Scattered showers over western coasts and hills but drier for other areas. The showers becoming heavier in western Scotland and the coasts of northwest England as well as northwest Ireland later this morning.
This afternoon brings the threat of thunder and hail mixed with the showers in western Scotland, northwest England and Northern Ireland. An area of severe gales crossing Northern Ireland late afternoon with gusts in excess of 60mph. Further showers in northwest England and northwest Wales but dry for other areas with sunny spells. Windy west.
Overnight the area of severe gales crosses northern England before blowing away into the North SEa. Showers starting to fade away as the gales pass, although always a few in western Scotland. Increasing cloud in Ireland and western areas of England and Wales, but clear spells in the east.
