Bitterly cold with severe gales, sleet and snow
It's going to be another cold day for all parts of the UK and Ireland. A strong wind is blowing air from the north pole across all areas. There is a band of sleet and snow affecting more eastern parts of England this morning, this clearing the southeast and perhaps bringing a covering of snow, even at low levels. Drier and brighter weather follows from the north. very windy here too with gusts in excess of 70mph on the coasts.
Further west it is going to be cold with showers on coasts, although should be drier and brighter for most. The showers falling as sleet and snow, perhaps down to low levels but certainly falling as snow over the hills. Staying breezy for all too and feeling bitterly cold as a result.
More snow showers around all but southern coasts tonight. Inland areas are likely to be drier with the winds easing later. Frosts are likely to be widespread.
