Snow showers coasts in west & north

Good morning,

A nasty wintry mix of rain, sleet, snow and ice across much of northern, central and eastern Britain this morning, so take care if you're travelling, particularly on higher routes.

Areas of wintry precipitation will clear eastwards by the middle of the day, but may persist across East Anglia well into the afternoon, accompanied by cold northerly winds. Sunshine and largely dry weather for central & southern England, also most of mainland Scotland.

Clusters of showers will also advance onto northern facing coasts across western Britain and Ireland, giving local accumulations of snow. Some hail and thunder possible in heavier showers. These continuing into the evening and night in the west.

Temperatures today will range from 3C in the north, to 6C in the south, but feeling near or below zero in the wind. Widespread frost and ice tonight, and staying cold this weekend.

Have a great day.
Garry
