Warm and humid central Britain
Low pressure centred toward the southwest of Britain will be slow-moving through today and the days ahead with areas of rain and thundery downpours common.
Some persistent rain and low cloud across northern England from dawn, pushing north and westwards into southern & central Scotland through the day. Northern Ireland may see patchy rain also extend in from the east.
Areas of showers breaking out over Wales and the southwest, which may form more widely over southern England in the afternoon and evening, with some thunderstorms possible.
Central and eastern England may well escape largely dry with some sunshine breaking through. Northern England will improve with time.
Today's top temperatures reaching 19 to 23C inland across England & Wales and feeling quite humid. Western Scotland also locally 20C. Meanwhile, eastern Scotland, plus southwest England will be cooler at 13 to 15C.
