Heavy rain and strong winds in Scandinavia
Tuesday High pressure extends across much of continental Europe, bringing plenty of dry and warm weather. A strong easterly pattern for Spain and Portugal will generate high temperatures in south-western Iberia, up to 35C. Nearer 22 to 25C around the Biscay coast, and 27C on the eastern Costas. Mainly dry and warm across the Mediterranean, highs 25C in Italy and Greece . A few thundery showers around Sicily. Dry with variable cloud for France and the Low Countries, 19 to 22C. Risk of a little rain for southern Germany and the Alps. Mainly dry but cloudy for northern Germany. Breezy around North Sea coasts. Low pressure centred north of Britain, and fronts pushing east bring heavy and persistent rain to western Norway. Some rain also reaches Denmark. Largely dry with a strong southerly flow across Sweden and Finland, very mild at 17 to 19C. Fair weather extends across eastern Europe.
Wednesday Widespread dry and warm weather across central and southern Europe. Temperatures again topping 30C in Portugal and south-western Spain. Plenty of sunshine across the Mediterranean, plus France, the Alps and Italy. Risk of further thunderstorms around Sicily. Fair and warm for south-eastern Europe, 21 to 24C. Breezy for Germany and the Low Countries, but dry. Low pressure brings unsettled weather to Scandinavia. Risk of gales in southern Norway and Denmark. Rain spreads across Sweden in the early hours, advancing north & east into the daytime, reaching Finland and the Baltic States, accompanied by a strong southerly wind. Patchy rain too for northern & eastern Poland, spreading to Belarus and western Ukraine.
