Best of the sun around the Mediterranean coast, cloudy with rain or showers in the northern part of the continent


Thursday
A fair day in Portugal, Spain and Italy. Plenty of sunshine and it should be dry too. The Balearics will be dry with good spells of sunshine and it should be staying dry in Italy. Greece will be dry with sunny spells although wind and rain affect eastern Turkey.
France should be dry and sunny although there will be some morning fog patches. The Low Countries will have variable cloud amounts. Wind and some showers in northern and eastern Germany with cooler weather and some rain passing southeastward through Poland. Austria, Hungary and Switzerland may see some showers but these should clear to leave sunny spells during the afternoon.
Denmark will be breezy and cold with some sunny spells. Dry and sunny in Sweden. Heavy wintry showers in the Baltic States with some of these affecting Finland. Norway will be wintry with most showers in the south.

Friday
Mainly cloudy for the Iberian peninsula with heavy showers for Portugal and the western half of Spain. Cloud building throughout the day for the Balearic Islands and Italy. Showery rain affecting western coastal parts of Italy too. Greece and Turkey will be dry with sunny spells with temperatures reaching 23C.
France and Benelux will start cloudy and a band of rain will clear to the southeast throughout the morning leaving a largely dry and sunny day, though some rain may linger along the Netherlands' coast. The same rain band will push through Germany and Poland although it will be weak and the rain will be patchier. Clear skies will develop behind the rain though it will remain cloudy for Poland. Austria, Hungary, Switzerland and the Czech Republic will all be dry with sunny spells.
Heavy rain for Denmark on Friday, particularly in the north, which will push across the Baltic Sea and into Latvia and Lithuania by late afternoon. Cloudy with a chance of showers for southern Norway and Sweden which will be wintry over high ground.
