Scattered showers central and southern Europe, rain in far north
Thursday High pressure continues to extend across much of the continent, bringing plenty of dry and warm weather, although some thunderstorms in the south. Hot and dry for Spain and Portugal, highest temperatures in the south-west of Iberia. Risk of isolated thunderstorms for eastern Spain. Dry for the western Mediterranean and much of northern Italy, although the central Alps have a risk of thundery showers. Thunderstorms also threaten southern Italy, Sicily, plus mainland Greece . Dry, sunny and breezy for the Greek Islands. Dry and sunny for France. Partly cloudy for the Low Countries and northern Germany, chance a spot of rain locally. Dry and very warm across eastern Europe. Breezy for Scandinavia. Dry in Denmark and much of Sweden. Showery in western Norway. Cool in the far north. Rain spreads across Finland, but will clear.
Friday Scattered heavy showers forming over central Spain on Friday, but mostly fair and hot. Staying fine and sunny in Portugal too. Plenty of dry weather in Italy again with good spells of sunshine. Some thunderstorms developing in Greece and western Turkey, but fair to the east. A bright day in France and the Low Countries as well as Germany. Decent spells of sunshine here and warm too. Poland and Hungary stay dry with further periods of sunshine. Some showers in the afternoon over Austria and Switzerland. Cloud and some rain in southwest Norway, but dry in Denmark. Sunny spells and dry over the Baltic States, but showers in Finland. Sunny spells and mostly dry for Sweden.
