Heavy rain and thunderstorms around the Black Sea
South and southwestern Europe will be generally dry and very warm with plenty of sunshine for Spain, Portugal, southern France and Italy. The western Alps should also stay fine, whilst some showers are possible further east. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms over the Balkan mountains. Mainly dry for Greece, Turkey and the eastern Med too.
Northern-central Europe will be much more unsettled, with areas of heavy rain and thundery showers for northern France, Germany and Poland. Scattered showers in the Low Countries. Winds strengthening later toward gale force for northwest France as a deep low approaches from the Atlantic.
Ukraine and Romania will see extensive areas of thunderstorms break out through the day. Meanwhile high pressure to the north brings fair weather and an easterly breeze across much of the Baltic and northern Scandinavia. However, areas of rain affect southern Norway and Denmark.
Southern Spain and Portugal stays dry and warm, although some rain affects northern Spain. A windy day for northern France and the Low Countries, with gales around the English Channel and North Sea coasts. Showers will come into western France from the Bay of Biscay. A belt of rain moves across France toward the Alps, and also extends into western Germany. Showers follow for Belgium and the Netherlands.
Hot and sunny for Italy, the Balkans and Greece. Plenty of sunshine across the Mediterranean. Low pressure over the Black Sea brings rain to northern Turkey, Romania and Ukraine. Patchy rain for the Baltic states. Dry weather extends across Poland into the eastern Alps.
Rain affects southern Norway and Denmark, whilst some heavy bursts also extend north across Sweden. Much of Finland and the far north stays dry and warm, also some rain may reach western Finland later.
