Frequent snowfalls for northern-central Europe this week
Sunday Heavy and thundery rain for Portugal and western Spain, the rain extending into northern Spain but south and eastern Spain staying dry. Mostly dry through the western Mediterranean with plenty of sunshine but rather breezy. A few showers for southwest Italy. Sunny and dry through Greece and Turkey. Dry conditions through France, Switzerland and Austria. Wintry showers into the Low Countries and some areas of snow for central and northern Germany and into Poland. Chilly across much of central Europe with brisk northwesterly winds for northern regions. Cold across Scandinavia with snow for west and southwest Norway, moving into southern Sweden later. Areas of snowfall for southern Finland and the Baltic states.
Monday Heavy rain for Spain and Portugal, pushing south and eastwards, leaving showers in the northwest. Areas of rain affect southern Italy and the Balkans. Showers for western Greece. Mostly dry toward the Black Sea. Rain for western France, drier to the east and into the Alps, local flurries possible. Wintry showers frequent and heavy into the Low Countries, a mix of snow and hail likely on strong northwesterly winds. Snow into northern Germany and Poland too with strong winds here. Remaining cold through northern Europe overall with more snow to come during the week ahead. A good deal of dry weather for Scandinavia, but coastal snow showers are likely.
