Early rain eases over England this morning to leave a mixed day across the country with some sunny spells and scattered showers. Showers most frequent to the west and north and these will turn wintry over higher ground and to the north. Gales affecting western and northern coasts through the day with severe gales to the far north and northwest.

Good Morning,

There'll be a few bands of rain over northern and central parts of England first thing this morning that will quickly fade to leave a dry morning for much of central and southern England and south Wales. Further north, a chilly northwesterly flow brings brighter conditions with frequent showers to Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and northern parts of England and Wales too. These showers will be wintry over higher ground. Strong winds too across the country this morning with gales for northern and western coasts, severe gales to the far north and northwest. Inland gusts of up to 60mph are possible over northern areas.

Staying windy through the afternoon with gales continuing for northern and western coasts. Gusts of up to 50mph per hour still possible inland over northern areas. Wintry showers continue to affect western coasts and hills while it will be brighter and drier to the east and south. A mostly dry but cloudy afternoon for southern parts of Ireland and Wales and central and southern parts of England.

Showers persist for Northern Ireland and western Scotland into Saturday evening while an area of rain edges into southwestern Ireland. This spreads eastward across Wales and England through the night. The best of any clear skies over eastern Scotland.

Have a good day!
