Morning Call - January 14, 2021
Wet, sleet & snow east
Drier far west

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 14th January 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Wet, periods of rain with some sleet and snow in the east, drier and brighter west

A wet day across much of England and eastern Wales as well as eastern Scotland. Cold air in the east will allow for rain to turn to sleet and snow in places. Most snow will be over the hills leading to several centimetres of fresh snow over high ground, and perhaps even some snow lying at lower levels too. Drier in western Scotland, and western Wales as well as Ireland where there will be some sunshine.

This afternoon sees the rain, sleet and snow easing and turning more drizzly. Colder weather spreads into the Midlands and it stays cold to the east. Milder and drier in the west with lots of sunshine across Ireland.

Tonight is generally dry as drizzle fades. Further periods of drizzle and low clud affecting western and southern coasts.
