Issued: 0530hrs Friday 7th May 2021
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Sun and showers becoming confined to the north and east. Cloud thickening further west.

This morning, expect showers to become widespread across Scotland, Northern Ireland and into northern England but also with sunny spells. Some showers affecting southern areas and Ireland but there will be lots of dry weather here.

This afternoon, showers will become confined to more northern and eastern regions of the UK. Further south and west cloud will thicken but will be largely dry. Towards the end of the day rain will start to push into southwest Ireland and the far southwest of England. Another chilly day.

Scattered showers across mainly eastern areas into the evening and will continue for some overnight. Meanwhile, cloud will thicken from the west and southwest through the night with rain spreading across. By dawn rain will have pushed across Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and much of England. South to southwesterly winds will also gradually strengthen.
