Staying cold
Mixed conditions

Issued: 0930 Saturday 9th November 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Temperatures staying cold for many with rather mixed conditions for most

Temperatures will be remaining cold for most through next week. There will be rain and showers, some of these heavy at times. The heaviest of the rain in more western areas with a risk of some snow on hills. There will be a few drier days as high pressure briefly builds on a few occasions but this brings the risk of frost, mist and fog.

Tuesday 12/11/19
Low pressure is centred east of Scotland on Tuesday. A cloudy day with showers in northern and western Scotland. Showers turning to snow over higher ground. Showers, some of them heavy, may merge to give longer spells of rain over northern and western coasts of England, Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland too. Drier in the east and south where there will be sunny spells. Temperatures at 5 to 8C.

Wednesday 13/11/19
Low pressure continues to dominate the weather with at least two centres circulating around the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. Low confidence in detail but it looks to start mostly dry and bright before cloud, outbreaks of rain and strong winds spread in from the west. Staying dry for much of Scotland and eastern England. High temperatures at 4 to 8C.

Thursday 14/11/19
Low pressure may slide south on Thursday bringing a northeasterly air flow to the British Isles. Cloudy with outbreaks of rain for central and southern England and Wales. Mostly dry and bright with scattered coastal showers for northern England, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Highs at 4 to 8C.

Friday 15/11/19
Friday may see high pressure build to the northwest while low pressure stays to the south. A cold, brisk northeasterly air flow brings frequent showers and outbreaks of rain to North Sea coasts. Drier to the west. Highs at 4 to 8C.

Saturday 16/11/19
Confidence is low but winds could remain from the northeast to east bringing further outbreaks of rain for eastern parts of the country. Drier to the west with spells of sunshine for Ireland. High temperatures at 3 to 8C.

Sunday 17/11/19
Sunday could see pressure fall from the west once more with cloud building over Ireland and the western UK and outbreaks of rain following later. Perhaps staying dry and bright for eastern areas. Highs at 4 to 9C.
