UK Forecast - January 14, 2021
Sleet & snow east
Milder west

Friday
A quieter day for Friday as a ridge of high pressure builds across the country. There may be some mist and fog patches at first especially through central and eastern areas. These should slowly lift and then maybe some bright or even sunny spells come through here. Always tending to be more cloud in northern and western parts of the country although even here there could be one or two brighter spells. It should stay dry. Winds increasing in the west of Ireland later, bringing rain here through the afternoon. Some rain possibly reaching into the Hebrides too during the evening. Highs at 3 to 9C.

Friday Night
Rain spreads eastward overnight across Ireland and most parts of the UK. Only the east of England staying dry until Saturday morning. Rain will be locally heavy and will turn to sleet and snow over higher ground in Scotland and the north of England. A dry end to the night for much of Ireland and Northern Ireland though showers will affect northwestern areas. Increasingly windy for all areas with coastal gales to the north and west. Overnight lows at -1 to 2C across much of England and Scotland as well as the east of Wales which will allow icy patches to form; 6 to 8C for Ireland, Northern Ireland and west Wales.

Saturday
An area of rain, some of it heavy will be spreading eastwards through the night and into Saturday morning. This could bring some sleet and snow to central and eastern England and eastern Scotland for a time, perhaps with a brief covering of snow at low levels. Brighter and drier weather should follow from the west with sunny spells developing here, although more persistent rain and sleet affects western Scotland. Highs at 4 to 6C in the east, 10 or 11C in the west and south.

Sunday
A ridge of high pressure builds to the south on Sunday, although low pressure stays to the north. There will be some wintry showers in northern and western Scotland. Elsewhere it is likely to be brighter although always with a fair amount of cloud, the best of any sunny spells in the east. Highs at 4 to 7C.
