Wednesday
Low pressure is in control of the weather over the UK and Ireland today. An area of showery rain affecting southern Ireland, Wales and southwest England early this morning, this spreading eastwards as the morning progresses, continuing to affect northern England into this afternoon. A further area of rain moving into northern Scotland. Cooler air with some bright or sunny spells in central and southern Scotland and much of Ireland. Tending to turn drier in southern England, although windy, ahead og a further area of showery rain that will arrive in the southwest later. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 10C in Northern Ireland and northern England, 15 to 18C to the south.

Wednesday Night
A breezy night and a much colder one too. The strong to gale force northwest wind brings showers and outbreaks of rain to many coastal areas, these turning wintry over the hills of Scotland. More persistent rain may affect the far south of England. Turning drier for many areas sheltered from the wind with clearer skies. Lows at 0C in central Scotland, 3 to 6C for most.

Thursday
A northwest flow across the UK and Ireland on Thursday bringing colder air to all areas. Some showers affecting the far east of England in the morning, these easing in the afternoon. Cloud and some rain and showers in northern and western Scotland with further scattered showers over the north and west of Wales as wel as northwest England. Drier in other areas, brighter and cooler with the best of the sunshine in southern England. A risk of gales in the far north of Scotland. Highs at 8 to 11C.

Friday
A ridge of high pressure builds across Ireland and the west of the UK on Friday. It stays cool throughout the day with broken cloud for many, but some sunshine too, the best of it to the west and south. A cold front moving south through Scotland and into northern England brings cloud and some showery periods of rain here. This rain tending to fade in the later afternoon and early evening. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.
