Warming up again for a time in the south

Rain at times, intially in the north, moving south for a time next week. Signs of high pressure and settled weather later.

Sunday 19/08/18
Low pressure over Northern Ireland tracking east across Northern England / Southern Scotland into the North Sea. Rain associated with the low will move east, elsewhere some bright intervals but often cloudy with scattered showers, these most likely over western coasts and hills. Highs 14 to 18C in the north and west up to a warm 25C in the southeast.


Monday 20/08/18
Ridge of high pressure builds over Southern Britain but with low pressure moving east towards Northern Scotland. Early rain or drizzle over northern and western Ireland pushing east into the north and west of Scotland, perhaps Northwest England. The rest of England and Wales a cloudy start with showers but becoming dry with some sunshine. Highs 15 to 17C with the rain but reaching a warm, muggy 25 to 28C in the east and south. A moist west to southwesterly flow with fronts over Scotland and Northern Ireland edging southeast and weakening. Rain and drizzle over the north and west of Scotland and Ireland, with drizzle West Wales and Southwest England moving southeast but turning lighter and patchy gradually. Highs 12 to 15C in the north and west, a humid 22C in the Southeast England.


Wednesday 22/08/18
Frontal trough England and Wales moving southeast and continuing to weaken. Low pressure over Iceland, moving east. Confidence low, especially in distribution of rain. Rain and drizzle central and southern areas edging south, clearing later. Brighter to the north but with showers for the north and west of Scotland and Northwest Ireland, some heavy western Scotland. Breezy in the north. Highs a fresh 13 to 15C in the north and west, 20 to 22C in the southeast.

Thursday 23/08/18
Low pressure to the north of Scotland moving east. Ridge of high pressure building across Ireland and the south. Breezy with showers for northern and western areas, some heavy Northern Scotland. Mostly dry with sunny spells in the east and south. Highs 12 to 15C in the north and west, 18 to 22C in the east and south.

Friday 24/08/18
A ridge of high pressure builds northeast across much of the British Isles. Still some showers in the north of Scotland, otherwise dry with sunny intervals. Highs 12 to 15C in the north, 18 to 20C in the south.
