Cooler from today then mild though unsettled again next week.
Relatively cooler weather arrives from today, initially in the north, but is pushed out of the way by a milder flow again as we head through the weekend and next week. Weather calms through the rest of this week before wind and frequent spells of rain move in next week.

The ridge of high pressure remains over much of England on Saturday with dry weather here, although breezy and with increased cloud cover from the west. Meanwhile, rain moves eastwards across Ireland and much of Scotland and will be reaching west Wales later, becoming heavy for a time. Highs at 11 to 15C.
Patchy rain reaches across southern and eastern parts of England on Sunday. A windy day for all with blustery showers behind the rain, but also some brighter spells. Heavier rain perhaps across west Scotland. Highs at a milder 13 to 17C.
Sunny spells and showers on Monday, showers most frequent in the west. Eastern areas are likely to be dry and may start bright, although with cloud increasing and the risk for longer spells of rain to push across southwest England and south Wales later. Highs at 10 to 15C.
Rain moves east across Northern Ireland and Scotland on Tuesday. Windy here too. Heavier rain for a time also through west Wales and western regions of Ireland. Much of England should be drier overall, although cloudy in the west. Highs at 13 to 17C.
A windy day with periods of rain across Ireland and Scotland as well as northwest England and northwest Wales. The rain could be heavy with a risk of flooding here. Less rain in southern, central and eastern England and Wales. Highs at 17C in the far south of England, 10C in northwest Scotland.
Staying windy on Thursday with trailing fronts bringing rain across Ireland, northern England and Wales. Drier and brighter through the rest of England and Scotland, although showers are likely across western areas here. Highs at 11 to 16C.
