Colder next week with strong winds, overnight frosts and a risk of wintry showers
Turning colder in the week ahead. Indicatins are that cold air drains south through Sunday and into next week. This colder air brings a risk of wintry showers, overnight frosts and stronger winds.

Saturday 16/11/24 A weakening cold front moving south and bringing some cloud and patchy rain to northern England, Wales and southern Ireland on Saturday. Staying dry with broken cloud in southern England, a few sunny spells here. Brighter too behind the front in northern England and southern Scotland as well as much of Ireland. A further front brings more cloud and some rain into northern and central Scotland, edging south during the day. Behind this will be much colder weather with wintry showers developing in the far north of Scotland. Orkney and Shetland later with gales here too. Highs at 7C in northern Scotland, 11C in southern England.
Sunday 17/11/24 Sunday turns colder as fronts pass southwards bringing periods of rain across Ireland and much of Wales, central and southern England. Much colder air into Scotland and northern England with some wintry showers in northern and western Scotland. The colder air draining south through the day. Highs at 7C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.
Monday 18/11/24 A cold north to northwest flow through Monday. A morning frost for some and then sunny spells during the day. Wintry showers may affect Ireland as well as northern and eastern Scotland. There is a risk of some more persistent rain, sleet and even some hill snow over southern Ireland, southern Wales and southern England. Tops at 5C in northern Scotland, 9C in southern England.
Tuesday 19/11/24 Low pressure may be south of the country on Tuesday. This could bring a periods of rain, sleet and snow to central and southern England and Wales. Brighter from the Midlands northwards with sunny spells. A few wintry showers around northern and western coasts and hills. Highs at 5 to 7C.
Wednesday 20/11/24 A cold day with low pressure east of the British Isles. A north to northwest flow bringing snow showers to western, northern and eastern coasts and hills. Drier and brighter for other areas. Highs at 4 to 6C.
Thursday 21/11/24 Staying cold through Thursday with a northwest wind bringing sunny spells. There will be wintry showers around northern and western coasts and hills. Highs at 4 to 7C.
