High pressure builds bringing a fine few days to most of the UK & Ireland
Cooler temperatures for most areas this week as an area of high pressure builds across the country. This brings a spell of settled weather at the beginning of the week which gives way to more mixed conditions once more from mid-week onwards.

High pressure to the south brings dry weather for much of England and Wales but also some mist and fog patches which could be slow to clear in the morning. Fronts in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland give cloudy conditions with outbreaks of rain, these heaviest in western Scotland. High temperatures at 8 to 12C for many, 13 or 14C for southeastern England.
Thursday looks to see outbreaks of rain continuing for northwestern parts of the UK and Ireland as low pressure remains to the northwest. Showers affecting western parts of England and Wales. Dry to the east and south with good spells of sunshine here. Highs at 11 to 15C for most, 16 or 17C in eastern England.
An area of low pressure may bring strong winds, cloud and outbreaks of rain to Ireland, Wales, much of northern England and southern Scotland. Eastern England and the north of Scotland should be drier. Highs at 6 to 9C to the north and west, 11 to 16C for central and southern England and Wales.
There is low confidence in the forecast for Saturday. High pressure may bring a dry day for southern parts of the UK and Ireland while a brisk westerly flow to the north brings outbreaks of light rain to western coastal regions. Feeling cold with highs at 6 to 11C.
Again, confidence remains low. Low pressure may bring outbreaks of rain to Ireland and western parts of the UK. Cloudy but dry to the east. Highs at 6 to 11C for most, 12 or 13C to the far south.
Confidence continues low into Monday when we may see low pressure to the west sending bands of rain northeastward across the UK while Ireland continues to see more persistent rain. Breezy with highs ranging from 8 to 15C.
