Briefly hot, then cooler and showery by Sunday, improving again next week
A brief hot spell for much of England, Wales and Ireland into the weekend. Fresher weather arriving in Ireland bringing some showery rain late Saturday and early Sunday into the UK. Fresher with some showers next week, most in the north but then turning drier and brighter.

Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Sunday. A fresher, westerly flow brings sunshine and showers, most of these to the north and west. A few of the showers could be heavy in western areas, especially over northern and western Scotland. Southern and eastern parts of England are likely to be mainly dry with the best of the sunshine here. Windy in Scotland and Northern Ireland with a risk of gales in the north and west. Highs at a cooler 15 to 18C in northern and western areas, but 21 to 23C in the east and south of England.
Low pressure to the north on Monday with a ridge of high pressure building into Ireland. A day of sunshine and showers for many, the showers heaviest in the north. Much of England and Wales, away from northwest England will have only scattered showers. Breezy in northern areas. Highs at 12C in northern Scotland, 19C in southern England.
Higher pressure builds through the UK and Ireland on Thursday. This is going to give a dry day with good spells of sunshine to most. A low risk of some cloud and a few spots of rain in the far northwest of Scotland. Just isolated showers elsewhere. Highs at 15C in northern Scotland, 23C in southern England.
Higher pressure remains over the south of the UK and Ireland, lower pressure to the north of Scotland. Further scattered showers affecting northern and western coasts of Scotland as well as the north and west of Ireland. Drier to the south with sunny spells. Highs at 16C in northern Scotland, 24C in southern England.
