Mild into the evening
A brief ridge of high pressure passes east across the British Isles, quickly followed by falling pressure and a frontal system moving back in from the Atlantic.
After a dry start in most places, any early sun will give way to thickening cloud from the west, and rain will develop across Wales, western regions of England, and western Scotland, becoming heavier into the afternoon. Snow at first over the mountains before milder air arrives.
Patchy light rain extends east across the Midlands in the afternoon. Rain remains heavy in the west into the night, with a renewed threat of flooding. Southwesterly inds strengthening toward gale force around western coasts.
Today's temperatures rising gradually after a chilly start, probably peaking after sunset at 7 to 9C.
Have a great day.
