Heavy rain may give localised flooding this morning, turning more showers to the west
A wet start to this morning over much of England and Wales. The rain could be heavy and thundery in central and southern areas and there is a risk of some localised flooding in the coming few hours. This heavier rain passes into northern England and possibly southern Scotland by mid to late morning.
Brighter and drier weather follows to the west and it will be windy in the far south of England. Heavy showers or longer spells of rain affecting western and southern Ireland,m again with a risk of gales on the coasts. Drier in eastern and northern Scotland with rain in the west and south. A wet night tonight in Wales and southern England with a further area of rain in central Scotland. Drier intervals elsewhere with broken cloud.
