Wednesday
A weak ridge of high pressure builds through the country on Wednesday bringing a dry start with a frost and sunny spells. There will be more cloud in East Anglia and southeast England with a few snow flurries here. These flurries tending to fade through the morning and into the afternoon. Thicker cloud arriving in western Scotland and western Ireland with some outbreaks of rain here. The rain then edges slowly eastwards into the afternoon, although much of England and Wales as well as eastern Scotland stay dry. Highs at a cold 2 to 5C.


Wednesday Night
Rain edges east through the rest of Scotland and Ireland as well as affecting northwest England and western Wales overnight. Most of the rain should be light with some fog on the coasts and hills too. Dry for eastern Wales and the rest of England with clear spells and a frost. Turning drier in western Scotland and western Ireland later. Lows at 2C in western Scotland, -3C in southeast England.


Thursday
A front brings cloud and rain through Scotland, Ireland, northern and western parts of England on Thursday, this slowly edging eastwards. Dry in the southeast with a morning frost here, then sunny spells during the day. Showers in northern and western Scotland but some brighter weather developing in much of central and eastern Scotland and western Ireland. Rain may turn heavier in northwest England, western Wales and eastern Ireland later. Highs at 5 to 7C.


Friday
A weak front clears eastern parts of England on Friday morning, taking any rain, sleet and snow with it. Following from the west will be drier and brighter weather, although some showers affecting more western coasts and hills. Some low cloud and drizzle in the far west of Scotland. Another cold day at 2 to 4C for most.
