UK Forecast - December 27, 2016
Areas of dense fog
Staying dry

Wednesday
Strong high pressure centred over the south-east brings extensive fair weather. Fog is likely to be widespread across low-lying central, southern & eastern Britain, and may struggle to clear all day in some areas. A south-easterly breeze affects the south coast & south-western Britain. A south-westerly flow influences Scotland. Just 2 to 5C in foggy areas, up to 7C elsewhere, or 10C in far south-west.

Wednesday night
Fog is likely to reform, or thicken again into the evening and night, most widespread for central & southern regions. Dry overall. A slight southerly breeze around coasts, strongest winds toward north-west Scotland. Temperatures dipping toward freezing, or just below zero in many inland areas. Nearer 3 to 5C or above around coasts, and perhaps also much of Scotland where exposed to the breeze.

Thursday
A large area of high pressure over Europe maintains dry weather for most of the British Isles. Dense fog across England & Wales may persist all day in some areas. Hazy sunshine away from fog. A south-westerly breeze for Scotland & Northern Ireland brings cloudy skies, and a little rain to the West Highlands. Temperatures between 3 and 9C, coldest where fog lingers, mildest in far south-west.

Friday
Fair weather for central & southern Britain. Some lingering fog patches, but a good deal of sunshine toward the east & south-east. Cloud is likely to thicken for the west & north-west. Rain turns persistent for western Scotland, and Northern Ireland may become increasingly damp. A south-westerly breeze in the north, but light winds in the south. Generally mild, highs 6 to 11C.
