Gales possible Thursday
An unsettled week to come across Britain with Atlantic fronts and low pressure areas often bringing in spells of rain and gusty winds in from the west. Overall though it will be mild with temperatures above their seasonal average with Scotland colder at times.

Wednesday 22/02/17 Cooler but temperatures still above normal across England and Wales. Rain across the south soon clears. A few showers to affect the north west with some wintry over the Scottish Hills. Fair and dry for most with sunnier spells. A wet and windy night with rain, heavy across Scotland with hill snow. Expect high temperatures of 7 to 10C.
Thursday 23/02/17 A mild to start and very windy through the day with a risk of widespread gales developing. Gusts of 70 mph may affect the northern hills with 50 mph inland. Heavy rain clears as colder air moves into Scotland. Expect a scattering of afternoon showers, these wintry across northern Scotland. Highs of 6 to 13C.
Friday 24/02/17 Chilly today across Scotland. While cooler across England and Wales, temperatures remain above average. It becomes very windy across England and Wales as more rain sweeps in from the west into most areas. Highs of 5 to 10C.
Saturday 25/02/17 Mild and wet across the country with spells of moderate to heavy rain. Lots of low cloud and hill fog is likely in the west. Very windy and wet for the evening then drier overnight. Highs of 6 to 13C.
Sunday 26/02/17 Today temperatures remain above normal and quite mild again across much of England and Wales. A windy, blustery day with rain into the north and the west - dry across the south and east. Highs of 9 to 13C.
Monday 27/02/17 A wet and windy day with outbreaks of heavy rain crossing the country. This clears through the day leaving a few showers across western areas. Expect highs of 5 to 9C.
