Issued: 1050 Sunday 28 May 2017
Duty forecaster: John Ejdowski

Best around mid week

Weather conditions for the upcoming week look rather mixed. While most areas will see some rain and catch some showers, there will be some good, dry spells as well with the driest part of the week coming in around mid week when an area of high pressure dominates. Late in the forecast it's not looking too bad across England and Wales as well. Temperatures are forecast to be above normal.

Wednesday 31/05/17
Today the best of the weather will be across England and Wales where it will be fine and dry with sunny spells. Occasional showers are likely across Scotland and Northern Ireland on and off through the day. Scotland may see some overnight rain but fair and dry for most of Britain. Expect high of 15 to 21C.

Thursday 01/06/17
An area of high pressure will keep things settled and dry across England and Wales. Feeling warm in the sunshine. A front brings outbreaks of rain into Scotland and Northern Ireland and this looks heavy and persistent. Overnight that area of rain is expected to affect eastern Scotland, northing England, Wales and south west England. Expect highs of 16 to 21C.

Friday 02/06/17
Across much of Britain it will be staying unsettled. Many areas to start dry but a number of showers tend to develop during the morning, becoming heavier in the afternoon. Most of the showers fade away in the early evening ahead of a dry night. Look for highs of 15 to 20C.

Saturday 03/06/17
Morning rain across Northern Ireland clears and spreads into western parts of Scotland in the afternoon. Showers, some locally heavy to affect eastern Scotland, northern England, The Midlands and Wales. Fair and mainly dry across East Anglia and the far south of England. Expect highs of 15 to 21C.

Sunday 04/06/17
A warmer day to come in the south. Largely dry across England and Wales with sunnier spells and some cloud but the odd shower can't be discounted. More unsettled across Scotland and Northern Ireland with spells of moderate to heavy rain possible. Highs of 16 to 24C.

Monday 05/06/17
Further spells of rain may persist across northern Scotland and Northern Ireland. High pressure may hang on and give another dry day with sunny spells for England and Wales. Expect highs of 16 to 22C.
