Drier to the east

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 2nd March 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cloudy and damp in the west and north, tending to be drier in the east

Good morning,

A windy day for Scotland with periods of rain here. Most will be affecting the northern half of Scotland where there could be some sleet and snow on the hills too. A further band of cloud and outbreaks of rain extendins through Northern Ireland, northwest England and into parts of the Midlands and East Anglia. Yet more rain into southern and western Ireland. Elsewhere a rather cloudy morning but with some drizzle and low cloud on western coasts and hills.

This afternoon sees the rain spresding across Ireland and into Wales and much of western England. Staying cloudy and damp in Scotland too. Tending to be drier in the south and southeast but rather cloudy here and the risk of a few spots of drizzle on windward facing hills.

Tonighut is likely to be rather cloudy, damp and mild for most. Rain most likely to the west and south, especially on coasts and hills. Further cloud and outbreaks of rain for Scotland.
